Company History
Barker Performance was started in 1997 by son Sean and father Cliff Barker. The company initially started with the buying and selling of Land Rover parts and by 1999 the company was actively involved with various Game Farms in the building and rebuilding of fleet vehicles and the supplying of parts. We at Barker Performance build approximately 80-100 vehicles a year, we do work for the likes of Londolozi, Singita, The &Beyond Group (CCAfrica) as well as the Wilderness Safari Group.
Service's and Product's
Today Barker Performance can supply a fully S.A.B.S (South African Bureau Of Standards) homologated (approved) Toyota Land Cruiser as well as Land Rover 110 Defender. Barker Performance is a distinguished and registered motor vehicle builder and have completed all the necessary testing requirement's with S.A.B.S and are fully compliant.
This means that we can offer you a vehicle that is legal to use in the Kruger National Park and other all National Parks within South Africa. There are various Game Drive Vehicles that we can convert, you can also see in the thumbnails above the various additions you can add to the conversion.
Facilities
All our steel work is mandril bent on site as well as fabricated, the steel work is then sandblasted and powder coated,
all the canvass work is done on site. We can offer a variety of different colour variations to suit your needs, so no need to stick to the conventional Green and Black conversion.

LAND ROVER REVEALS THE GAME VIEWER OF THE FUTURE –
THE INNOVATIVE ELECTRIC CONCEPT VEHICLE
Land Rover has combined its wealth of experience in the off-road sector, its specialised skills in the production of game viewing vehicles, as well as its constant drive to reduce engine emissions to produce an all-electric concept game viewer.
The Electric Defender Game Viewer Concept Vehicle
combines the iconic Defender’s peerless reputation for off-road ability
with a cutting-edge all-electric drive system –
thus making it a truly ‘green’ vehicle with zero exhaust emissions.
The pioneering project is being announced today by Land Rover South Africa, and has been developed by local Land Rover specialist Barker Performance Products with technical support from Land Rover product development specialists, Appropriately, its official debut will take place at Indaba 2011, one of Africa’s largest tourism events, which will be held in Durban from 7 to 10 May 2011.
“The Electric Game Viewer Concept is the perfect synergy of the Defender’s outstanding reputation as the definitive game viewing vehicle, as well as our drive to reduce emissions,” explains Kevin Flynn, managing director of Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and Sub-Sahara Africa.
